On February 16, 2011, as part of the wider Arab Spring movement, riot police clashed with hundreds of protesters in Cairo's Tahrir Square. The protests centered around demands for democracy, social justice, and an end to the regime of then-President Hosni Mubarak.
The protesters, many of whom were young Egyptians inspired by the success of protests in Tunisia, gathered to express their discontent with government corruption, unemployment, and repression. Tahrir Square became the epicenter for the Egyptian Revolution.
Have you ever participated in a protest or demonstration for a cause you believe in, and how did it feel to stand up for your beliefs?
